Director, Crop Nutrition

JGL is seeking a strategic and experienced agriculture professional to join our team as the Director of Crop Nutrition to lead our bulk fertilizer strategy and supplier relationships across our retail network. This senior role, reporting to the Chief of Retail & Business Development, will be part of the JGL leadership team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing our bulk fertilizer strategy, while building and strengthening relationships with manufacturing partners to support the growth and long-term success of our independent retail network.

About Our Crop Input Network

JGL’s crop input network is built on a commitment to growing strong partnerships and supporting independent ag retailers across Western Canada. We operate as a collaborative network with the goal to strengthen the long-term success of independent retailers by helping them remain competitive, efficient, and connected to the customers and communities they serve. Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Lead and manage Hawk’s Agro and partners’ bulk fertilizer strategy, including forecasting, procurement, and communication with retail staff and distribution partners.
  • Work with key stakeholders to leverage strategic capital assets by developing agreements to maximize their utilization.
  • Develop and implement effective forecasting models for bulk fertilizer to support long-term growth and profitability.
  • Drive bulk fertilizer sales projections by negotiating with key manufacturers and aligning pricing strategies with sales leaders.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to location managers and sales reps on fertilizer commodity markets and product positioning.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with manufacturing partners and key stakeholders while overseeing the Belle Plaine fertilizer facility to effectively manage distribution logistics.
  • Spearhead strategic initiatives around crop nutrition, including positions, introducing new products, enhancing distribution channels, and identifying growth opportunities.

Strategic Support

  • Collaborate with the management team to develop and support the shaping the future direction of Hawk’s Agro and its partners.
  • Collaborate with the Logistics Coordinator to ensure efficient distribution and logistics for retail locations, partners, and producers.
  • Assist in the development of annual sales budgets and goals for Hawk’s Agro and its partners.
